About the Midnight Blue Mashru Silk Kadhuwa Saree
Midnight Blue captures the depth of the night sky — calm, rich, and endlessly elegant. On Mashru Silk, this shade takes on an almost celestial glow, as the fabric’s luminous surface reflects light from within. Woven across this deep blue base is the legendary Kadhuwa technique, one of the most intricate and prestigious forms of Banarasi craftsmanship, making these Banarasi Sarees truly exceptional.
Kadhuwa is not like other Banarasi weaving. In most Banarasi sarees the extra threads that create the motifs float loosely on the reverse of the fabric between one motif and the next. In Kadhuwa weaving there are no floating threads — each motif is woven individually, with the extra threads cut and finished at every single motif. The reverse of a Kadhuwa saree is as clean as its face. This is what makes Kadhuwa the most labour-intensive and most prestigious weave in Varanasi — and also what gives Kadhuwa motifs their extraordinary sharpness and definition. The body of this saree carries dense Kadhuwa floral and jaal motifs across the midnight blue Mashru ground — each motif precise, clean-edged, and jewel-like in its finish. Running along both sides is a wide layered gold zari border — bold and deeply worked. The pallu is the crowning piece — a grand Kadhuwa floral medallion surrounded by dense gold zari work and a layered border frame that makes the fall of this saree one of the most spectacular in the Ekaasam collection. Some sarees are worn. This one is carried.

Midnight Blue Mashru Silk Kadhuwa Saree — About This Weave
The Banarasi Organza Saree represents one of the lightest and most ethereal forms of Banarasi weaving. Organza — a sheer, tightly woven fabric — takes on a new dimension when worked with traditional Banarasi gold zari techniques on a pit loom. The result is a saree that is simultaneously delicate and opulent.
The Aqua Mist colourway is achieved through natural yarn dyeing before weaving — meaning the colour is embedded into the silk threads themselves, not printed or dyed on the surface. This gives the saree its characteristic depth and sheen, and ensures the colour retains its vibrancy through careful washing and storage.
At Ekaasam, every Organza Banarasi Saree is sourced directly from weaver families in Varanasi, cutting out middlemen and ensuring fair wages for artisans. When you purchase from Ekaasam, you directly support the preservation of a 500-year-old weaving tradition.
