About this Saree
About the Neelambari Saree
Neelambari — the blue of the sky just before nightfall. Neither the vivid blue of afternoon nor the darkness of midnight, but a luminous shade suspended between day and night, belonging entirely to neither. Among all colours used in Banarasi weaving, it remains one of the rarest and most captivating choices. On Mashru Katan Silk, this hue transforms into something truly exceptional. The silk’s natural lustre deepens the neela base, giving it a radiance that seems to glow from within. Adorned with intricate gold zari and Meena work, these Banarasi Sarees do more than catch the eye — they hold it effortlessly.
Mashru Katan is a fabric of rare heritage. Woven with a pure silk outer face and a softer inner weave, it offers the full visual grandeur of Katan Silk with a wearing comfort that makes it especially suited for long celebrations. The body of this saree carries a deep floral jaal across the neela blue Mashru Katan ground — Meena and gold zari motifs worked closely and with precision from one end to the other. Running along both sides is a wide layered gold zari border — bold and beautifully finished. The pallu opens into its fullest expression — a large Meena floral medallion at the centre, dense gold zari work all around, and a layered border frame that makes the fall of this saree one of the most memorable in the Ekaasam collection. Blue was never this grand.

Mashru Katan Neelambari Saree — About This Weave
The Banarasi Organza Saree represents one of the lightest and most ethereal forms of Banarasi weaving. Organza — a sheer, tightly woven fabric — takes on a new dimension when worked with traditional Banarasi gold zari techniques on a pit loom. The result is a saree that is simultaneously delicate and opulent.
The Aqua Mist colourway is achieved through natural yarn dyeing before weaving — meaning the colour is embedded into the silk threads themselves, not printed or dyed on the surface. This gives the saree its characteristic depth and sheen, and ensures the colour retains its vibrancy through careful washing and storage.
At Ekaasam, every Organza Banarasi Saree is sourced directly from weaver families in Varanasi, cutting out middlemen and ensuring fair wages for artisans. When you purchase from Ekaasam, you directly support the preservation of a 500-year-old weaving tradition.
